The cell, the people they have met, and the chronicle's resources.
Brooklyn keeps its dead close.
It is November 2022 in Carroll Gardens and Red Hook. Brownstones sell for record prices, and Red Hook's waterfront warehouses are turning into lofts. The old-timers on the stoops notice things the newcomers never will. Behind the neighbourhood's most respectable institutions (a hospital, a funeral home that has buried the parish since 1947, a discreet investment firm with a taste for Venetian names), something has been feeding for decades.
Hunter: The Reckoning is not a story about chosen ones. Hunters are ordinary people who saw something they cannot unsee and refused to look away. They have no army, no church and no secret order behind them, only conviction, whatever tools they can carry, and one another. What they hunt is older, richer and better connected than they are, and it is patient.
The Dead Hand is a twelve-session chronicle, fit for 4–7 players, about what it costs to fight something that owns the institutions meant to stop it, and about what hunters become when the only road forward runs through the thing they are hunting.
